Happy new year from Tiller Cycles, Established in 2003 on board narrowboat Brass
Farthing, sadly due to the intolerance of the Canal & River Trust and specifically
George Dickinson (patrol officer) and Susie Mercer (trading boat manager) the business
became solely land based in 2013. The mainstay of work from the boat was used bike
sales and although that has been taken over by repairs (all types of bikes) and gear
and product conversion work (mainly on Brompton folding bike) you will still find
a few bikes for sale here.
New for 2014 will be the alloy chainguards for the 2013 Brompton spider chainset,
more details here, and a 40t lower gear chainring
Thank you to all my customers using my spoke cutting/supply service over the last
few years 13g and 14g spokes available from 49mm length here, if there are any other
products you would like stocked please let me know.
The Land Base...Please call 07749 824784 to make an appointment to visit the workshop

The first half of the year (can you believe it’s nearly July already!) has been a
very busy one, in the spring Cycling Active Magazine run a feature on me and my Floating
bike shop business, many thanks to them and welcome to the new customers that have
come my way, at the same time my workshop had the addition of a Harrison lathe, with
an increase in one off conversion work I can make those small parts that are always
The jobs I enjoy are a result of my acceptance to do the jobs other bike shops won’t,
like refurbishment of this Pashley trike wheel set, stripping down having the rims
powdercaoted and rebuilding, Pashley trikes are like busses, no sooner had I finished
this set and another came in!
Brompton work is becoming a big part of my life, as well as a quality service for
the general servicing and repair of your Brompton , including same day rear hinge
bush replacement I do gear conversions from the economic Sturmey Archer 8 speed to
the Shimano Alfine 11 speed and the new Nuvinci variable hub Brompton conversion!
The “Scuff Muffle” has been reintroduced with the availability of colours.
SPD folding pedal, a prototype is currently being tested and
another is planned for later in the year, your express of interest
would be appreciated to move it forward.(sorry now delayed
